Lubrication has a crucial impact on the operation and lifespan of rolling bearings. Lubricating grease is made from base oil, thickeners, and additives. The performance of different types and different grades of lubricating grease of the same type varies greatly, and the allowable rotation limit is different. It is important to pay attention when selecting.

The performance of lubricating grease is mainly determined by the base oil. Low viscosity base oils are generally suitable for low temperatures and high speeds; High viscosity is suitable for high temperatures and high loads. Thickener also affects lubrication performance, and the water resistance of thickener determines the water resistance of lubricating grease. In principle, lubricating greases of different brands cannot be mixed, and even lubricating greases with the same thickener will have negative effects on each other due to different additives.

Greasing lubrication is the direct application of lubricating grease between the moving surfaces of rolling bearings. However, when inputting lubricating grease into the raceway and sliding working surface of bearings, the following 5 principles must be followed:

(1) Lubricating grease must penetrate the working surface of the rolling bearing and the internal gaps of the bearing in order to fully lubricate.

(2) A certain amount of lubricating grease should be retained on the working surface of the bearing for a certain period of time, but it is also necessary to prevent excessive loss of lubricating grease.

(3) The input and output flow of lubricating grease should be consistent with the sealing requirements, which is conducive to the discharge of invading pollutants.

(4) On the premise of ensuring good lubrication of rolling bearings, try to reduce the amount of lubricating grease as much as possible.

(5) Open an outlet hole at the end of the grease flow to allow the newly added grease to squeeze out the old grease and ensure good lubrication. Special reminder, when lubricating equal section rolling bearings with grease, be sure to pay attention to the working temperature range of the rolling bearing grease. If it is not within the appropriate temperature range, the effect will be counterproductive.
